# BriefGPU — GPU Rental Budget

This template prepares an estimate based on your organization and BriefGPU plans. The examples describe project assumptions, never measured GPU performance.

## Files and Prerequisites

- `briefgpu-budget-v1.xlsx`: workbook with four tabs, to be opened in a spreadsheet program compatible with XLSX and its common formulas.
- `briefgpu-budget-v1.prix.csv`: 45 rows, i.e. fifteen models and three durations per model. Prices are provided in USD cents and USD.
- `briefgpu-budget-v1.plan.csv`: one row of assumptions that you can replace with your own plan.

The CSV files use UTF-8 encoding with a BOM marker, a comma as separator and a decimal point. When importing, select these settings if your spreadsheet does not recognize them. A CSV does not preserve formulas, formatting or choice lists. Use the XLSX for interactive calculation.

Prepare the GPU identifier, the number of lots and your duration estimates. No account or network access is required to use the downloaded files. The template asks for no email or cookie and keeps no record of your entries.

## Entering Your Project

1. In **Budget**, choose a model and from 1 to 10 lots. The yellow cells are editable.
2. In **Calendar**, enter the five phases in days: preparation on rental, active work, waiting, resume, export and verification. Each phase accepts **0 to 365 days with a maximum of two decimal places**. Enter zero explicitly when a phase does not use the rental. A phase left blank must be filled in.
3. Optionally enter the local preparation, from 0 to 365 days with a maximum of two decimal places. It remains outside the rental window.
4. Optionally enter the number of accepted results you expect to obtain: **an integer from 0 to 100,000,000**. Zero or a blank cell leaves the cost per result uncalculated, displayed as `n.a.`.
5. Enter external costs only if you have an estimate: **from 0 to 1,000,000 USD with a maximum of two decimal places**. **A blank cell means "not entered"**: the overall budget is not calculated. **Zero means "no external costs included by me for this estimate"**. The GPU plan cost and its cost per result remain calculable when external costs are unknown.

## Reading the Calculations

- Rental window = sum of the five phases. Local preparation is not added to it.
- Total GPUs = lots × GPUs per lot.
- GPU plan cost = price of one lot for the chosen duration × lots. The B200 price already includes two GPUs per lot: no additional multiplication by two is performed.
- Eligible plan = window strictly greater than zero and less than or equal to the plan duration. Otherwise, the plan is insufficient. An invalid entry is flagged separately.
- Margin = plan duration − window. A negative margin reveals an overrun.
- Plan cost per result = GPU cost ÷ accepted results, only for a strictly positive integer.
- Overall budget = GPU cost + external costs, only when these costs are entered and positive or zero.

The three rows each compare a 3-, 7- or 30-day plan. The template does not add plans together, does not renew any rental and does not reserve any GPU.

## Recalculation and Dated Pricing

The formulas recalculate prices, margins and statuses when you modify the yellow cells. Text values, limit overruns and too many decimal places are flagged with "Corriger…" or "À corriger", including when a paste bypasses input validation. If your spreadsheet uses a manual calculation mode, request a recalculation before reading the results. Keep the formulas and the pricing table intact to use this snapshot.

The prices are a **snapshot from September 24, 2026**, version `gpu-reference-2026-09-24-v1`. They do not update over the network. The source is indicated only once in the Pricing tab. Re-read the price displayed in your order before confirming it.

## Illustrative Examples

| Project | Preparation + active + wait + resume + export | Estimated results | Package used in the example |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| RTX A5000, 1 batch | 0.5 + 1 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 = 3 days | 48 | 3 days, 23.57 USD |
| A40, 2 batches | 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 7 days | Not provided | 7 days, 136.00 USD |
| RTX 4090, 1 batch | 1 + 8 + 15 + 3 + 2 = 29 days | 80 | 30 days, 390.00 USD, 1-day buffer |

External costs are empty in the delivered plan. They are therefore not assumed to be zero.
