The NVIDIA H100 SXM offers 80 GB of HBM3 memory on one GPU per batch. It suits a prepared comparison: you already know your processing, its expected result and its needs. For a first rental without these reference points, start by defining the project before choosing this budget level.
The right candidate: work that is already reproducible
Choose a batch you can run several times with the same parameters. Separate preparation time from compute time to understand what you observe. Check quality before comparing durations. Processing that finishes faster but produces unusable results does not meet your professional need.
Distinguish limited compute from insufficient memory
The 80 GB is a per-card capacity. If the processing already fails for lack of space on another 80 GB card, this figure remains unchanged. Revisit batch sizes, inputs and other loaded tasks. To keep a genuinely larger project on a single card, the 141 GB H200 deserves a comparison.
Hopper features depend on the software
The H100 uses the Hopper architecture, whose certain compute features support reduced precisions. Your application must leverage them for them to benefit the project. Do not change precision solely to obtain a duration figure: also verify the answers, images or measurements produced. Keep a known result to judge the differences.
SXM is not a promise of universal gain
The H100 PCIe in the catalog also has 80 GB, at a lower price. The A100 SXM also maintains this capacity at a lower cost. Compare these options against your actual workload, factoring in the necessary retries. The SXM suffix identifies the model here; on its own it does not let you infer the performance of your entire workflow.
A budget that includes verification time
